What is Small Coders?

Small Coders is exactly what it sounds like, a company that undertakes small coding (web development) jobs, and I am Liam Bailey the director. Right now there are literally millions of small business owners out there struggling their way through the WordPress Codex library trying to achieve very simple things for their website, because it costs too much for them to have someone professional do it for them. I know this because I have helped several of them on Twitter, including one (@RobertaWard) who actually sent me her code, which I modified to make her blog perform the way she wanted and sent back – all free.

While I was helping all those people; or rather when I was stopping short of helping people because of time constraints, it occurred to me that it could be a very worthwhile service to provide; a low budget web development company. A company that will do all those small coding jobs, like modifying the WordPress Page.php file so that the theme being used will display sticky or featured posts on the homepage of the blog, or write a little function that displays custom fields in an unordered or defined list somewhere on the posts individual page in Joomla, WordPress, Drupal or any other PHP based website or CMS.

What’s more we will never quote more than £25. That is not to say we will develop entire websites for £25, any job that requires a bigger budget than that will be referred to our main web development company Galloway Web Services. That said: all jobs like the ones mentioned above will be done for less than £25.

You may have noticed the words “PHP based website” above, to clarify; we will be undertaking jobs using (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript (including all main libraries) and AJAX, but we will only be working on sites using PHP to interact with the server, not ASP, JSP or any other server-side language.
